Ypsi Real Sign Design Contest

Screen Shot 2015-11-24 at 11.36.45 AM

Wayfinding signs build a sense of place for locals, as well as help visitors and tourists find unique destinations. The Ypsilanti Convention and Visitors Bureau seeks to connect with one of the great strengths of the Ypsilanti area— our creative talent— to design headers on top of 13 signs to be installed throughout the city and township. It is our goal to showcase these destinations with unique local artwork on top of the signs.

Winners of this competition will receive an honorarium of $1,000. The Convention and Visitors Bureau will showcase the winning artists in social media. We can provide assistance with preparing final graphics and specifications for the sign company fabrication and installation.

Signs may be site specific, inspired by the history, geography or other elements. We’re looking for designs that are visionary— yet do not detract from the function of the signage. Design parameters must be followed to meet state standards. Please see the attached locations and design parameters.

This competition requires vigilance to manage a rapidly advancing deadline! YOUR DESIGN MUST BE SUBMITTED BY DECEMBER 4, 2015. The competition is open to all artists, though we especially hope to engage the local community. Only those entries that conform to the design parameters will be considered.

Please submit your design in PDF format to: dlocke@ypsilanti.org
